Quite often cube-to-cube drill through on the web is not sufficient. The target of a drill operation needs to be presented in the form of a report. The following steps will allow you to enable drill through to a .ppx report on the web:

1. Build both the source cube and target cube via Transformer.
2. In PowerPlay Enterprise Server, insert both the source cube and target cube at the root level .
3. In PowerPlay Client, click the New Report toolbar button. Select a Remote connection and select the target cube in PowerPlay Enterprise Server (PPES). It is important that you build this report against the Remote cube in PPES and not the local copy.
4. Once the target report layout is complete, save it as a .ppx file. This is your target .ppx report and can be saved anywhere on the file system.
5. Back in Transformer, open the source cube you created in step 1. Right click on the cube name and select Properties . Click on the Drill Through tab .
6. Enable drill through by checking the “Allow drill through for this PowerCube” checkbox .
7. Click the Add… button and browse to the target .ppx report saved in step 4 to enter it in the Custom Reports list.
8. Rebuild this source cube .
9. Go back to PPES and insert the target .ppx report at the root level of PPES.
10. In PPES, double click the source cube to access its properties . Click on the Settings tab and scroll down to the Drill Through folder.
11. Change the PowerPlay cubes setting to Enabled .
12. In the PowerPlay Web target setting, enter the address of your active PowerPlay server as http:// <servername> /End Times Economic/cgi-bin/ppdscgi.exe . (Replace “ <servername> ” with the actual name of your PPES server.)
13. Click OK to save the settings.
14. Test the configuration by selecting the source cube and clicking the Open with Browser toolbar button.
15. Filter the report and click the Drill Through toolbar button. You should be taken to the target report with the filters intact.
16. As a last step, publish the source cube , target cube , and target .ppx report to Upfront. Test the drill through from Upfront.

Notes:

1. Reports that have been published to Upfront are maintained as a copy. Therefore, simply making changes to the properties of the original report in PPES Admin will not affect the published report in Upfront. To illustrate this point this, examine the NewsItem properties in Upfront for the report. On the Report tab, select the Advanced Properties link. You will see that the actual source of the published report is in the Imported Reports folder.
